Back in 2007, a group of friends with common ideals and a desire to connect, gathered to share and get acquainted. We were ‘networking’ and we were enjoying the fact that we could be ourselves while exploring opportunities for business. (And the wine was delicious!) When that evening ended, one of the ladies asked, “When are we doing this again?” And Networking, Women and Wine was born. To this day, some of my most important contacts came from that first meeting as well as some of my dearest friends. I think you will agree that is how women really connect.
Who were the women who started it all? My name is Camine Pappas, and I am the owner of C andCompany Creative, a full service branding and communications firm with clients all over the country. Carmen Hunter, who started it all with me, is an accomplished Realtor® and trainer with Keller Williams Realty. We were the first "connectors" if you will. But today we have over 600 women on our mailing list and it's growing every day.
So what do we stand for? Networking, Women and Wine seeks to create meaningful and authentic connections among women. Gathering monthly, women of all ages and backgrounds have the opportunity to meet in an environment where real conversation and uplifting topics are discussed, all while enjoying and learning about the world of wine which allows for comfortable conversation that is also spontaneous and personal.
We shy away from the regimented protocol of other groups to encourage a safe, nurturing environment in which to learn about each other as we believe that true networking happens in its own time, between people who have the opportunity to share personal stories and opinions.We don't limit who comes to our events. We don't require you to bring leads to be valuable. And we certainly don't make you pass your card around like you're playing a card game. We just want you to grab a glass, and speak from your heart.
We promote a positive approach to today’s world, encouraging our women to seek authentic lives and a positive outlook. Our messages are about believing and seeing the best in people and celebrating the feminine qualities of nurturing and acceptance.
Wine is our mascot for the simple fact that wine and wine making are symbols of creativity, individuality and authenticity. The vineyard is a place where many things happen that are similar to our life journey, and so we find a connection with the vine, and in her struggles and triumphs. As with the grape, we believe that when we are nurtured, we open up and offer our unique influence for good, and blossom to our fullest potential.

Carmen has since moved to Asheville, where she hopes to start a chapter of NWW and continue to grow the chance for authentic connections and real friendships!
